These are a few of my favorite thingsWhen my shirt shrinks
When my words stink
When I’m feeling sad

Hi. This is where we will be revealing our favorite things.

Can paintings be poetic?
These paintings give me the same feeling as certain poems do.

Nella Larsen creates a place of peace when she writes of “a small oasis in a desert of darkness.” Her novel, Quicksand, begins beautifully and I can’t wait to read the rest.
Mark Strand was the Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 1990-1991. That’s the entire title for what we thankfully abbreviate to Poet Laureate. To my great relief, I like his work notwithstanding the honorary title. A good place to start is his book of Selected Poems. His work is evocative and lit by the moon.

The smell of the autumn leaves makes me think of death and life, destruction and creation. I feel more imaginative in the later months, probably because of all the wonderful fresh smells. If a scent could inspire, I think this one does.
This is the height of my inspiration!
